Our Story

Owned and operated by mother-daughter and husband-wife team Robyn Brown, Leila Burrows & Brendan Mooney, Cavaignac is 100 acres of rich delta farmland dedicated to organic farming, wine grapes, weddings and farm stay retreats.

In 1879, widow Agnes Brown moved from San Francisco to the tiny hamlet of Walnut Grove to purchase the local hotel from the hamlet's founders, founded in 1850 at the height of California's Gold Rush. Accompanied by her son, Alex Brown and his bride Kate Stanford, the family grew and prospered in businesses and soon farming.

Today, Robyn and Leila are fifth and sixth generation of Walnut Grove, taking up from where Agnes, Alex, and Kate left off. Almost 140 years later, the family continues in hospitality, opening their farm home venue to enchanted visitors.

Cavaignac serves as a wedding venue and retreat location, inviting Bay Area and Northern California residents as well as visitors afar to experience and connect to life at Cavaignac.
